Most probably you're the only one to do so. (Not to self: Keep it short).

Now coming to your point about emotions. To understand the human mind leaving out emotion, will be an attempt to grasp only the half (or less) of it. So yes, you are correct in pointing out the importance of emotions. But it will be an attempt for the easier half. While we are struggling with making algorithm out of supposedly 'simple' structures like spoken language, imagine what will happen when you add stuffs like 'envy' and 'kindness' into the syllabus, let's not touch the word 'love' (there are recorded instances where circuits got burnt just by typing those four letters).

So while you and me both agree quantum mechanics is the one which holds this universe, let them figure out force = mass x acceleration first. :)

In any case a robot which can talk back can be a nuisance enough. Forget about the one which throws tantrums...!!avikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02805604777976238313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9121396227329106053.post-25353635293697316132009-10-09T00:51:48.461+05:302009-10-09T00:51:48.461+05:30sitting in a bizzare hotel in paris...without much...sitting in a bizzare hotel in paris...without much to do...reading this rather long (yet interesting) blog was the second best thing I could do (sleeping ofcourse would be the first best)

I would like to get my hands on this book someday...

anyway...I am intregued by what you said about emotions!!! everytime I hear or see about some breakthrough in AI...I think to myself...is "intelligence" (or "rational action/reaction" if you may) the sufficient and necessary condition in making a decision to solve a problem?

and everytime...I try to recollect a situation where I have made a decision in life based solely on "rationality". And I find it difficult to pinpoint any such instance. Without "emotion" ( love included )... I do not think we as human beings would have acquired this level of "intelligence". So...if AI was to ever become a reality...and a terminator ( or NEO ) from 3000 AD coming back to save the human race from being taken over by machines was to become a reality...understanding the role of emotions in problem solving might just be the key...ofcourse...I am not the most INTELLIGENT of people on earth...and i bet a lot of people will even vouch for me not being the most EMOTIONAL bloke either...just a point of view of a guy who has had all the time in the world to do nothing but think.Arunhttp://arunbrdwj.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
